Pathanamthitta district was formed on 1st November 1982. It is southern part of kerala . It is having 6taluks namely Thiruvalla, Adoor, Konni, , Ranni, Mallapally and Kozhencherry .Pathanamthitta is known as the Headquaters of pilgrimage tourism in india. District tourism board gave pathanamthitta the moniker " The Abode of God". Famous pilgrim centres are Sabarimala Temple, Parumala church,Manjanikkara Deyara, Pathanamthitta has tropical biodiversity with forest, plantation, revers and fertile lands.Forests of the district have excellent wild life habitats.Approximately 50% of total district area is reserve forest.Winter is experienced from december to february, summer from march to may, There are two rainy season "south west monsoon" from june to september "noth east monsoon" from october to november.
